The club was formed in 1984 and is based in the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

We are a medium/large club with a membership of about ninety (Junior & Senior) and while a number of our members take part in competitions our main aim is to have fun and enjoy our shooting. As well as target shooting, we shoot clout and have a small field course in a nearby wood.

In addition to taking part in local and national target competitions we orgaise a number of GNAS field and BLBS longbow shoots. Some members also attend GNAS target and clout competitions, NFAS field shoots and BLBS longbow shoots. Clout shooting is popular within the club and members have attended clout shoots as far afield as Penrith, South Wales and Somerset. While we encourage members to take part in competitions we do not push them and are quite happy for members just to shoot on club nights simply for the fun of it.

The club shoots at its own field near Withington. Club practice night during the Summer months (April - September) is Wednesday evening but  members have 7 day access to the shooting ground and can shoot at any other time provided basic safety precautions are followed. Indoor shooting during the winter months (October to March) is at Sundorne School, Shrewsbury on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Novices are encouraged to shoot on Monday evenings leaving Thursdays free for more experienced archers. No coaching is available on Thursdays as that is the only time the coaches get to shoot. Some members also shoot at the Mary Webb school (Pontesbury) on Friday evenings. Maps showing the location of the clubs shooting venues can be found in the links section.

We are currently involved with a number of local schools helping to run after school archery clubs and run one-off archery taster sessions for other schools and organisations during the course of the year. Unfortunately there are more requests than there is free time and we are not able to accomodate them all. If you want a have-a-go session, you are welcome to ask but we cannot guarantee being able to fit you in.

Beginners courses are run throughout the summer months (May - August) whenever there enough people interested. We have a minimum age of 9 for safety reasons. See the 'Beginners' page for more details.
